This first week of February at Canyonville Christian Academy is Spirit Week which leads up to Homecoming.  The Homecoming court has been chosen and the King and Queen will be announced at the big homecoming basketball game on Saturday night.  (That’s still a surprise!)

Many former students, the alumni, from this christian academy will be returning this weekend for the big event.  So far this week, we’ve had pajama day where students and staff came to school in their  pajamas, backwards day, crazy hair and hat day and we’ll definitely have blue and gold day.

The classes are competing against each other for prizes.  Doors have been decorated, hush buttons have been stolen and the hunt for The Pilot’s Wheel is afoot.  Lots of fun this week!

February Events Calendar

Ashley enjoys working with the thirteen horses on her ranch and she also enjoys giving lessons to children.  She is also very active in 4H and competing in english, trail and western equitation.

Here at CCA, Ashley works hard in all her classes, helps serve at lunch time and takes part of the schools great elective courses.

Canyonville Christian Academy students returned from Christmas break to face the new year and the rapidly approaching end of semester one.  They were all so happy to see each other as they shared stories of their travels back home or other places around the U.S.  Amy Chang’s parents came during the break and they were able to visit New Orleans, the Grand Canyon in Arizona and a couple of trips to Disneyland in California.

New students for second semester (spring term) will begin to arrive on January 20 & 21.  It looks like a good group is coming and our current students are excited to meet them.

December Has Arrived!

Students are back from a few days off for the traditional American holiday of Thanksgiving.  Many of the students went on the CCA trip to the Seattle area where they enjoyed swimming, go karts, shopping and lots of eating.  They returned saying that they had a lot of fun.  Other students went home for this traditional holiday.

Speaking of traditions, it is basketball season at Canyonville Christian Academy!!  The first weekend in December, CCA is sponsoring a basketball tournament.  It should be a great opening for the 2011-2012 season.  The CCA Pilots are ready for an exciting season of basketball.  We will post photos of the tournament and also of our cheerleading team.

November is upon us here in Oregon as the weather gets cooler and the leaves have all changed color.  1st quarter is now behind us.  Students by now have made lots of friends and participated in sporting events and some fun activities.  But November is usually the time when homesickness finally hits the students.  If you’re a parent, this is a good time to encourage your son or daughter to push onward and work hard because Christmas break is just around the corner.

This month we have Spiritual Emphasis Week where guest speakers come to chapel and students focus on the importance of their faith.  It’s always a refreshing time!  Here in America we are about to celebrate Thanksgiving, a national holiday.  Students will return home or visit relatives while others will participate in the CCA sponsored Thanksgiving trip to Seattle.

November Events Calendar

Autumn is in the air!  The trees here in Oregon are beginning to change to beautiful colors of yellow, red and orange.  Big orange pumpkins can be seen at the local market.  CCA students attended the Canyonville Pumpkin Festival where there were contests and a big vintage car show.  The weather was wonderful.   Wacky Olympics and our Fall Glow Party are two of the fun things for this month.

Riding the rapids

It was a HOT day and Oregon’s Rogue River was cool and inviting.  All of Canyonville Christian Academy’s student body plus faculty and staff took a day off of school to head south to Gold Hill, Oregon for a rafting trip.  This is a great time for students who are new to CCA to get to know each other.  Everyone had a great time, many jumping into the cool river and many being thrown in by their friends.  The rapids were exciting and a great thrill as many students had never done this before.  Afterwards, there was a picnic in the park where students played basketball, soccer, volleyball or just laid around in the warm sun.  The annual CCA rafting trip was another success!

Two new Canyonville Christian Academy international students, Emmauel Stand and Valentina Rios, are our first students from Colombia.  We are so thrilled to have them study with us at CCA.  Their presence on campus is already felt as they have made many new friends who are interested in knowing more about Colombian culture.  Dr. Wynelle Cowder, director of the J.
