Canyonville Christian Academy’s September activities calendar is available for downloads! Welcome to Canyonville Christian Academy! We are excited to have you as a part of our CCA family! The first few weeks of this new school year have been busy and exciting! Students are quickly making new friends from all around the world. They are settling into their dorms and class schedules as they build relationships with their teachers and deans. Fall sports have also begun! Canyonville Christian Academy’s fall sports include volleyball, soccer, and cross country. Sports at this private school are a great way to connect with coaches and other students. They help develop students’ talent, character, and ability to work in teams with diverse cultures. Christian Academy Names Teacher of the Year

Teacher of the year is awarded to Mathematics teacher, Luke Suhr! This year’s Mayfest celebration was filled with student talent and thunderous applause –especially when Mr. Luke Suhr, head of Canyonville Christian Academy’s Mathematics department was announced as the recipient of the 2014 Teacher of the Year award. Students rose to their feet with cheers and applause when the award was announced. Mr. Suhr has just finished his 2nd year at CCA teaching, AP Calculus, AP Physics, Pre-Calculus, Algebra III, and Statistics. He is loved by the students for his willingness to go out of his way to give them extra help when they need it. Mr. Suhr also makes Physics and Calculus fun. In his classes, international students not only read about science in their books, but they also experience it in real life as they are challenged with interesting and exciting experiments. One of the many benefits of attending a small boarding school is the close relationships that are formed between staff and students. Luke Suhr is a perfect example of this. We appreciate his professionalism, dedication, and sincerity. Congratulations Mr. Suhr!

Christian Academy Drama Club Presents

“Murder By the Book” presented by the Canyonville Christian Academy Drama Club On May 11th, 2014 the hardworking cast of Canyonville Christian Academy’s drama club will perform the spring play entitled “Murder By the Book.” Director Sherri Nutter and the cast and crew have put together this exciting play that is sure to be a winner. For two long months, they have worked on set design, lighting, costumes, and learning lines in order to bring to CCA this fine production. Admission is free! If you live in the area, please feel free to come at either 3 p.m. on Sunday May 11th or 2 p.m. on Monday May 12th. If you cannot make it either of those days, you are welcome to come to a 7 p.m dress rehearsal on Saturday May 10th. You don’t want to miss this great event! See you there.

Canyonville Christian Academy was named prominently in a January 23, 2013 Wall Street Journal story on international students* in U.S. high school. The WSJ is the number-one selling newspaper in America. The large page-three feature story indicated that in many countries both private and parochial American high schools are seen as an excellent pathway for admissions to U.S. colleges. Pilots’ Defense Dominates Camas Valley

In their best defensive outing of the season, Canyonville Christian Academy’s boys held a strong (12-6) Camas Valley team to just 11 points in the 2nd half as the Pilots pulled away for a 38-26 win. For Camas Valley, the state football champs, it was their lowest point total of the year. In a earlier game, CCA outscored Umpqua Valley Christian in the second half but were unable to overcome the halftime deficit. Final score was a narro 48-52 loss for the Pilots.
