Alumni Contribute To New Dorm

Continuing their support for the new dorm, Canyonville Christian Academy/Canyonville Bible Academy alumni recently contributed another $2,000. The added funds will go towards the decorative street lights and brings to nearly $55,000 in total help on the project by alumni and board members. Thank you Alumni and Board members! CCA/CBA 2015 Alumni Reunion Date Set

May 30 & 31 have been named as the dates for the 2015 Canyonville Christian Academy Alumni Reunion. Activities will get underway at 1 p.m. on Saturday the 30th following the school graduation. A banquet will follow on Saturday evening with a brunch and chapel winding up events on Sunday the 31st. CCA particularly welcomes students from the “10-Year Classes” (1945, 1955, 1965, 1975, 1985, 1995, 2005), but all alumni and former staff are welcome at reunions. There will be no charge for any of the events.

Wesley Bishop – Receives ‘Alumnus Of The Year Award’

Wesley Bishop, Class of ’64, the writer for 14 produced movies, was honored as “Alumnus of the Year” during the 2014 alumni reunion. His films include “Christmas Shoes” starring Rob Lowe, the most-watched TV movie of 2002; “The Dan Jansen Story” for which he receied the Christopher Award; “A Walk in My Shoes“; and his personal favorite “On Thin Ice“. His latest film is “Christmas Secret”, set to debut on the Hallmark Channel Christmas 2014. His citation noted his commitment to quality, family-friendly stories that “affirm the highest values of the human spirit”.

Richard Wang ’04

Richard Wang class of ’04 is from Dalian, Northern China. He came to Canyonville Christian Academy without knowing one word of English. Richard worked hard to learn English while at the boarding school, and said it took him 3 months before being able to communicate. After he graduated CCA in 2004, Richard then went to Central Washington University to pursue a BA in Business Administration, specializing in Supply Chain Management and Marketing Management. During this time, Richard started working at Boeing as an intern. Since then, Richard worked at The Boeing Company, and served as the Chief of Staff and Chief Strategy Analyst rotational assignments for the Executive Managing Director of Asia in Global Supply Chain Management to help with strategic and policy initiatives related to China, India, and Korea. He also served as the Product Manager to help the execution of Boeing enterprise’s Supply Chain Predictive Analytic Systems. In 2010, Richard Wang received an executive certificate from the Tunderbird School of Global Management in International Marketing Strategy. In 2011, he received an executive certificate from the University of Notre Dame for negotiation. Currently, Richard is serving as the Vice President of Business Strategy and Development for Village88.com, a technology incubator and consulting firm based in Silicon Valley and Seattle. He is also pursuing a professional degree from the Stanford University for Strategic Decision and Risk Management. Richard has also been recently accepted into the University of Washington for the Master’s degree in Human Computer Interaction and Design.

Private School Canyonville Bible Academy, now Canyonville Christian Academy has had the privilege of serving many many students, starting small, to now serving students from all over the world! This year, we are celebrating 90 years of education, starting from our small beginnings to our current International outreach, CCA has a beautiful tapestry of history. You as CBA/CCA Alumni have a beautiful part in that. CBA/CCA Alumni Reunion – Celebrating 90 Years Of Education!

Can you believe it? This is Canyonville Christian Academy’s 90th year as a private high school! From it’s small beginnings in 1924 to today, this Christian boarding school has been a blessing to MANY and continues to reach out even further – to the NATIONS! What a legacy to share! Dad Shaffer would be amazed to see such a diverse group of international students on campus today, as would Bob Shaffer! Esther Shaffer has been really enjoying these wonderful students from all over the world and she continues to cheer for them at their basketball games! Each year, Esther also enjoys watching young ladies “walk out” from Hinn Hall at CCA’s favorite event – JSB. She enjoys viewing all the gorgeous girls in their beautiful dresses with smiles on their faces while young men walk up to meet them in their stylish suits! Roger Shaffer continues to teach two sections of Seminar class. His special class introduces students to the basics of the stock market, he also takes students to various Symphony’s and Opera’s, Art Museums, Plays, NFL Football games, NBA Basketball games, continuing to enhance their knowledge on culture (all part of Seminar class). Roger also quietly maintains different area’s of the school grounds in the early mornings and enjoys seeing the wildlife on campus. You, as alumni have helped make all this happen! Each year as more students graduate, there are more memories made here at Canyonville Christian Academy. So many graduates say they miss the campus, miss the teachers and the close family feelings they found while here. Alumni Dorm Fund Crosses $50,000 Figure!

Total donations from Canyonville Christian Academy alumni and friends towards the construction of a new dorm went above $50,000 in March! The fourth dorm at the Private Academy is scheduled for opening in the Fall of 2015 and is tentatively designed to house 26 students. Although the dorm fund represents only a fraction of the total cost, it is the goal of the Alumni Association to be a catalyst for progress and improvements on campus. November 17th, Cheerleaders

The 2011-12 Pilot cheerleaders (all 13 of them) attended the university of Oregon vs Eastern Washington basketball game to observe the U of O rally squad in action. The trip to the new Matt Knight Arena in Eugene was sponsored by the CCA Alumni Association.
