Stock Pickers Number-One Private/Parochial School In U.S. Competition

Canyonville Christian Academy battled more than 3,000 entries in the 2012 national stock market and ended the 14-week game as the top-ranked private school in the country and placed 9th overall.

Team members from the senior economics class included Kenny Chen, Jerry Hsiao and MinHo Jung.

In the Spring Oregon Stock Market Game, CCA suffered a rare loss for the top spot to Jesuit of Portland. However, CCA’s econ students captured six of the top seven spots in the final standings.  Top Pilot was Johnny Yuan.  In the state investing competition, over 400 teams were entered.

In the students’ “real money” investing account, the class earned more than $2,500 (42%) since January 1, 2012.  This Christian Academy is one of only two high schools in Oregon with a substantial brokerage account, the other being St. Mary’s Academy of Portland.
