Christian Academy Places Top Five in Capitol Hill Challenge
The seminar class is known as the “culture” class at this Christian Academy. Students that take this class learn how to play chess, listen to political speakers, and go on trips to operas, symphonies, and famous art museums in Los Angeles. They also compete in the stock market games for high school students and have won the Oregon version of it up to 8 years in a row.
Roger Shaffer’s seminar class, entered a pair of portfolios that placed third and fourth in this year’s national stock market game – the Capitol Hill Challenge, beating out teams from nearly 670 other schools. The prize? Students from the top 10 schools received an all-expenses-paid, three-day trip to the nation’s Capitol, courtesy of competition sponsor SIFMA Foundation, which promotes education about financial markets. This Private Christian Academy beat out New Jersey’s High Technology High School that is only minutes away from Wall Street, and Chicago’s 4,000 student Nueco Valley High School.
Congratulations to all the hard working students who participated!
