Canyonville Christian Academy seeks to create an atmosphere that focuses on academic excellence and promotes respect towards oneself and others.  

Canyonville Christian Academy Dress Code

All students (both day & boarding) of Canyonville Christian Academy must dress according to CCA’s Dress Code at all times during the school year.  When classes, teams or musical groups travel during the school year, they are representatives of the school and are required to dress according to this code.   The Administration, Deans, Headmaster, Teacher and Staff will ensure compliance with these guidelines.  Students who are not dressed according to this code will be asked to return home or to the dorms and correct the problem.  If a student wears an item of clothing that they were already told was inappropriate that clothing must be sent home or can be held by their deans until it can be taken home.  It is understood that there will be occasions when exceptions to these guidelines can be made, such as field trips, drama projects, etc. These exceptions must be approved by the Administration.  CCA’s Dress Code consists of four categories with general guidelines that apply to them all.  Dress Code “A+” gives guidance for how students should dress for our formal events, “A” for dress-up days, “B” for school and chapel dress, and “C” for after school/casual dress.  A neat and clean appearance is the ultimate goal.    

Dress Code “A+” is appropriate school dress for special events such as JSB (Junior/Senior Banquet), Homecoming, & Mayfest.

Girls: Formal or semi-formal dresses. Boys: Suits, dress shirts, ties, dress pants, dress shoes, socks. Tuxedos are optional.    The following are not acceptable for Dress Code “A+”:

  • Dresses that are strapless, backless or have a low neckline
  • Dresses or skirts that are more than 4 inches above the kneecap (including slits and under layer of skirts with sheer top layer) even when wearing leggings or tights
  • Excessively baggy or low-rise pants
  • Clothing that allows undergarments or midriff to be exposed
  • Spaghetti straps, halters, tube tops, tank tops, low-cut or backless styles even with a jacket or blouse cover-up
  • Excessively oversized or tight clothing
  • T-shirts, jeans, sweatshirts or exercise clothing
  • Flip-flops, shower shoes or tennis shoes

Dress Code “A” is appropriate school dress for less formal events and banquets. 

Girls: Skirts, dresses or dress slacks & dress shoes.

Boys: Dress shirts or dressy sweaters, dress pants & dress shoes.

The following are not acceptable for Dress Code “A”:

  • Dresses or skirts that are more than 4 inches above the kneecap (including slits and under layer of skirts with sheer top layer) even when wearing leggings or tights

  • Excessively frayed, torn or distressed jeans
  • Excessively baggy or low-rise pants
  • Dresses that are strapless, backless or have a low neckline 
  • Dresses or skirts that are more than 4 inches above the kneecap (including slits and under layer of skirts with sheer top layer) even when wearing leggings or tights
  • Clothing that allows undergarments or midriff to be exposed
  • Spaghetti straps, halters, tube tops, tank tops, low-cut or backless styles even with a jacket or blouse cover-up 
  • Excessively oversized or tight clothing
  • T-shirts may not contain suggestive or inappropriate writing or graphics
  • Shorts, exercise or sports clothing outside of PE Class
  • Flip-flops or shower shoes

Dress Code “C” is appropriate school dress for after school, casual events or on the weekends. 

Students may wear jeans or pants, dresses or skirts, button-down shirts, polos, “dressy” solid or striped shirts or sweaters.  Acceptable clothing also includes t-shirts, mid-thigh shorts, sweatshirts, exercise apparel, blouses, shirts, tank tops (at least 1 inch wide), leggings or yoga pants with proper coverage that is no higher than 4 inches from the kneecap, casual shoes, sandals or flip flops.

The following are not acceptable for Dress Code “C”:

  • Excessively low-rise pants or tight clothing
  • Dresses that are strapless, backless or have a low neckline 
  • Dresses or skirts that are more than 4 inches above the kneecap (including slits and under layer of skirts with sheer top layer) even when wearing leggings or tights
  • Clothing that allows undergarments or midriff to be exposed
  • Spaghetti straps, halters, tube tops or low-cut backless styles even with jacket or blouse cover-up
  • T-shirts may not contain suggestive or inappropriate writing or graphics
  • Students are not permitted to have hairstyles of unusual colors or that draw undue attention. Boys’ hair should be no longer than the bottom of a dress shirt collar (no pony tails or dreads). Boys may not wear beards (except Seniors); nor sideburns below the jaw line. Hair should also be kept from covering one’s eyes. 
  • Headwear (baseball caps, bandannas, beanies, berets, stocking hats, dew rags, etc.) are not appropriate to wear in the cafeteria, chapel, classrooms or office. 
  • Boys may wear 1 stud earring in each ear (spikes are not allowed). Girls may have ear piercings and one small nose stud. Neither gender may have body piercings or gauges. 
  • Boys must keep shirts on at all times.
  • Shoes are required in all public places.
  • Pajama bottoms should not be worn outside the dormitory.
  • Students are expected to change clothes before coming to the Dining Room after athletic activity.
  • Uniforms for team sports will be provided by CCA. Uniforms are not appropriate campus attire except on specified occasions.
  • PE uniforms will be available for purchase at the beginning of the school year and must be worn each day to PE class only.
  • Students are not permitted to get tattoos during the school year. Any that already exist must be covered.
  • Girl’s bathing suits must be a modest one-piece suit or tankini and should be worn only around swimming areas.

All students (both day & boarding) of Canyonville Christian Academy must dress according to CCA’s Dress Code at all times during the school year.  When classes, teams or musical groups travel during the school year, they are representatives of the school and are required to dress according to this code.   The Administration, Deans, Headmaster, Teacher and Staff will ensure compliance with these guidelines.  Students who are not dressed according to this code will be asked to return home or to the dorms and correct the problem.  If a student wears an item of clothing that they were already told was inappropriate that clothing must be sent home or can be held by their deans until it can be taken home.  It is understood that there will be occasions when exceptions to these guidelines can be made, such as field trips, drama projects, etc. These exceptions must be approved by the Administration.  CCA’s Dress Code consists of four categories with general guidelines that apply to them all.  Dress Code “A+” gives guidance for how students should dress for our formal events, “A” for dress-up days, “B” for school and chapel dress, and “C” for after school/casual dress.  A neat and clean appearance is the ultimate goal.    

Dress Code “A+” is appropriate school dress for special events such as JSB (Junior/Senior Banquet), Homecoming, & Mayfest.

Girls: Formal or semi-formal dresses. Boys: Suits, dress shirts, ties, dress pants, dress shoes, socks. Tuxedos are optional.    The following are not acceptable for Dress Code “A+”:

  • Dresses that are strapless, backless or have a low neckline
  • Dresses or skirts that are more than 4 inches above the kneecap (including slits and under layer of skirts with sheer top layer) even when wearing leggings or tights
  • Excessively baggy or low-rise pants
  • Clothing that allows undergarments or midriff to be exposed
  • Spaghetti straps, halters, tube tops, tank tops, low-cut or backless styles even with a jacket or blouse cover-up
  • Excessively oversized or tight clothing
  • T-shirts, jeans, sweatshirts or exercise clothing
  • Flip-flops, shower shoes or tennis shoes

Dress Code “A” is appropriate school dress for less formal events and banquets. 

Girls: Skirts, dresses or dress slacks & dress shoes.

Boys: Dress shirts or dressy sweaters, dress pants & dress shoes.

The following are not acceptable for Dress Code “A”:

  • Dresses that are strapless, backless or have a low neckline 
  • Dresses or skirts that are more than 4 inches above the kneecap (including slits and under layer of skirts with sheer top layer) even when wearing leggings or tights
  • Excessively baggy or low-rise pants
  • Clothing that allows undergarments or midriff to be exposed
  • Spaghetti straps, halters, tube tops, tank tops, low-cut or backless styles even with a jacket or blouse cover-up
  • Excessively oversized or tight clothing
  • T-shirts, jeans, sweatshirts or exercise clothing
  • Flip-flops, shower shoes or tennis shoes

Dress Code “B” is appropriate school dress during school days and chapel services.

Students may wear jeans or pants, dresses or skirts, blouses, button-down shirts, polos, “dressy” solid or striped shirts or sweaters.  T-shirts are also allowed as school day attire.  

The following is not acceptable for Dress Code “B”:

  • Excessively frayed, torn or distressed jeans
  • Excessively baggy or low-rise pants
  • Dresses that are strapless, backless or have a low neckline 
  • Dresses or skirts that are more than 4 inches above the kneecap (including slits and under layer of skirts with sheer top layer) even when wearing leggings or tights
  • Clothing that allows undergarments or midriff to be exposed
  • Spaghetti straps, halters, tube tops, tank tops, low-cut or backless styles even with a jacket or blouse cover-up 
  • Excessively oversized or tight clothing
  • T-shirts may not contain suggestive or inappropriate writing or graphics
  • Shorts, exercise or sports clothing outside of PE Class
  • Flip-flops or shower shoes

Dress Code “C” is appropriate school dress for after school, casual events or on the weekends. 

Students may wear jeans or pants, dresses or skirts, button-down shirts, polos, “dressy” solid or striped shirts or sweaters.  Acceptable clothing also includes t-shirts, mid-thigh shorts, sweatshirts, exercise apparel, blouses, shirts, tank tops (at least 1 inch wide), leggings or yoga pants with proper coverage that is no higher than 4 inches from the kneecap, casual shoes, sandals or flip flops.

The following are not acceptable for Dress Code “C”:

  • Excessively low-rise pants or tight clothing
  • Dresses that are strapless, backless or have a low neckline 
  • Dresses or skirts that are more than 4 inches above the kneecap (including slits and under layer of skirts with sheer top layer) even when wearing leggings or tights
  • Clothing that allows undergarments or midriff to be exposed
  • Spaghetti straps, halters, tube tops or low-cut backless styles even with jacket or blouse cover-up
  • T-shirts may not contain suggestive or inappropriate writing or graphics
  • Students are not permitted to have hairstyles of unusual colors or that draw undue attention. Boys’ hair should be no longer than the bottom of a dress shirt collar (no pony tails or dreads). Boys may not wear beards (except Seniors); nor sideburns below the jaw line. Hair should also be kept from covering one’s eyes. 
  • Headwear (baseball caps, bandannas, beanies, berets, stocking hats, dew rags, etc.) are not appropriate to wear in the cafeteria, chapel, classrooms or office. 
  • Boys may wear 1 stud earring in each ear (spikes are not allowed). Girls may have ear piercings and one small nose stud. Neither gender may have body piercings or gauges. 
  • Boys must keep shirts on at all times.
  • Shoes are required in all public places.
  • Pajama bottoms should not be worn outside the dormitory.
  • Students are expected to change clothes before coming to the Dining Room after athletic activity.
  • Uniforms for team sports will be provided by CCA. Uniforms are not appropriate campus attire except on specified occasions.
  • PE uniforms will be available for purchase at the beginning of the school year and must be worn each day to PE class only.
  • Students are not permitted to get tattoos during the school year. Any that already exist must be covered.
  • Girl’s bathing suits must be a modest one-piece suit or tankini and should be worn only around swimming areas.
