SEMINAR CLASS SET TO DEFEND NATIONAL STOCK GAME TITLE

The 2015 Capitol Hill Challenge, a competition open to all U.S. high schools, got underway Feb. 2 and will run through May 8. Canyonville Christian Academy‘s seminar class students finished number-one out of over 4,000 entries in 2014. In the internet investing simulation game, students are given $100,000 to invest and real time stock bond, ETF, and mutual fund prices are used. Teams placing in the top-10 in the nation get an all-expense paid trip to tour Washington, DC, meet with their senators and representatives, and attend various award programs and seminars. CCA’s students won Washington trips in 2013 and 2014.

Roger Shaffer’s Seminar Class Dominates Spring Investment Competition

Canyonville Christian Academy’s entries easily captured first place in the Oregon Stock Market Game that ended April 17, 2014. The seminar students made over a 62% return in the 10-week investing competition that included more than 450 teams from around the state. The leading non-CCA entries (Trillium Charter School from Portland and Reynolds of Troutdale) ended the Spring game with a 9% return. With just under three weeks remaining in the national competition, seminar class is locked in a tight race for first place in the 4,000 team event.
