Stock Market Students Headed For New York and Washington, DC

Four students who competed in this year’s state investing competition will be meeting with members of congress, including presidential candidate Rand Paul, at the capitol hill complex in Washington, DC May 10-11. They will then be traveling to New York City to be interviewed by media the following two days. Stock market students making the trip are Brian Powell (2016 Oregon champion), Kwon Choi, Aldona Knysiak, and Merveille Maroya. CCA’s students have been a dominant force in stock market events for many years, including national (Capitol Hill Challenge) champs in 2014 and 2015.

Canyonville Christian Academy Repeats As National Stock Market Game Champions!

Canyonville Christian Academy is the first school ever to achieve a two time win! Canyonville Christian Academy has been officially notified by the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Assn. (SIFMA) that we finished 2015 #1 in the national high school investing competition sponsored by their organization. The ten top team from around the United States are invited to meet in Washington, DC for three days of events, seminars, and touring the capital city. CCA will provide the five qualifying students with two extra days of seeing the sights. The team going to DC will be Bryan Mukama, Luigi Van Mol, Esther Sandrali, Esther Cyubahiro, and Junior Strusberg. Canyonville also won the title in 2014, making this boarding school the first school to win the competition two times. Over 4,300 teams competed in this year’s Capitol Hill Challenge, with schools investing a hypothetical $100,000 over the course of a 14-week period. Congratulations to the Seminar Class!

CCA Stock Game Success Reported On Wall Street Journal

In the May 9, 2015 Wall Street Journal, Jason Zweig devoted a large portion of his weekly “Intelligent Investor” column to Canyonville Christian Academy’s seminar class strategies and winning record in the national investing competition. By some measures, the Wall Street Journal is the leading newspaper in the United States and it is almost unheard of for them to devote space to high school reporting. MIGNONNE HIRWA MWIZA WINS OREGON STOCK GAME

First place out of more than 300 entries from Oregon high schools went to Mignonne in the spring statewide investing competition. Canyonville Christian Academy entrants Grace Tuan and Luigi Van Mol also brought home the next two places. Awards will be presented to the winners at a Portland banquet in May.

Canyonville Christian Academy Investors Win State Game

The 2014 Oregon Fall Stock Market Game for high school students was captured by Canyonville Christian Academy’s Eric Lee. The top CCA entry made a profit of over 135% in just 10 weeks! The Fall game serves as a “warm-up” for the national contest which begins in Feb. 2015. The Pilots are the defending U.S. champs and will be after their 3rd consecutive all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C. Stay tuned for updates throughout the national contest for updates!
