Track Team Qualifies 7 For State Meet

Canyonville Christian Academy qualified athletes in four field events at the 2015 Mountain View Conference Meet held on May 16th, for the coming state championship meet at famed Hayward Field on the University of Oregon campus. Senior Sasha Eck added another six inches to her school record in the triple jump with a qualifying mark of 32-6. The other Pilot state meet competitors will include: Mahli Beltran (long jump) Ivan Sandrali (long and triple jumps), Gabriel Martin (100m and 200m), Samuel Kim (javelin), and the girls’ 400m relay team.

Canyonville Christian Academy 2014 State Track Results!

Senior Jack Yoo capped his Canyonville Christian Academy track career with three state meet medals May 22 and 23 at Hayward Field in Eugene: 3rd – Triple Jump; 4th – Long Jump; and a leg on the 4th place 400m relay team. Leading the girls were Sasha Eck (6th – long jump and 8th – triple jump) and Mahli Beltran (8th – 200m). The boys’ 400m relay team of Gabriel Martin, Jack Yoo, Ivan Chu, and Ivan Sandrali recorded a time of 45.90 (auto timed), just a whisker below the old record set in 2007. The boys finished in 11th place among the Class 2A schools. Watch the relay team in action

Pilots Multinational Basketball Team Came Close!

Canyonville Christian Academy’s International boys basketball team made a good run at the #1 high school basketball team in the state during the opening round at the 2A OSAA tournament. Trailing by just two points late in the game, the Pilots came up short in the closing minutes. Final score: Irrigon 47 CCA 37. In the consolation bracket, International Private High School CCA also suffered a 10 point loss to Central Linn, 64-54. After a slow start, the Pilots closed to within one point in the fourth quarter but could not get the lead against the Cobras. The Eastern Oregonian titled their article: The Canyonville Christian basketball team is multinational and multilingual. Here’s an excerpt of that article. Basketball coach Noel Schaak has a flair for turning players with zero experience and a loose grasp on the English language into seasoned athletes. Schaak’s team at Canyonville Christian Academy has a roster of 12 international players from the Ukraine, Rwanda, Hong Kong and South Korea. Though the team usually has local boys, too, this year it doesn’t. The boys team ended the season with a 17-8 record.

Private Boarding School Cheerleaders Compete At State

Canyonville Christian Academy’s 2013-14 cheerleading squad place 8th in the OSAA championships in Portland on Feb. 15. Competing in the 3A/2A/1A division, the girls were the top school from our basketball district, and lead all Christian & private schools in the competition. The six-member group is coached by Mrs. Jami Stansberry.

Pilots Send Five Runners To State

400 Meter Relay (46.68) Joe Chen Emmanuel Stand Jack Yoo Jamie Wang 200 Meter Dash Joe Chen (24.21) Long Jump Jack Yoo (18-1) Girls 400 Meter Dash Macy Ho (78.45) The 2012 regular track season ended May 12 at the District Meet with four boys and one girl qualifying for the State 1A Championship Meet. The Pilots were strongest in the sprints (200m, 400m and 4x100m relay) and also advanced a long jumper to the Oregon 2A title meet. Canyonville Christian Academy’s team is coached by Cathy Lovato and Mike Stansberry.

Cross Country Outing

CCA’s cross country runners traveled to Corvallis to attend an NCAA Division I football Game between Oregon State and UCLA on September 24th. The PAC-12 contest was won by UCLA before a crowd of 44,000.
