Bob was president of CBA/CCA from 1985-87 and was the grandson of Rev. A.M. Shaffer, the founder of the academy. He also served a number of years on the Board of Directors of CBA/CCA. Bob served his country during the Korean War and had a career as a business executive in South America. The date and site of a memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Best efforts by the Pilots included a 2nd place finish in the boys’ distance medley relay (12:07.3) and  runner-up honors by Samuel Kim in the long jump. Head coach for the boys’ and girls’ teams is Cathy Lovato.

Destin Masoni and Brian Ng Led Canyonville Christian Academy team with a total of 40 points.   In the girls competition, CCA fell short by a 25-48 score.

The final score of the December 12th game was 63-61 over the Triad Timberwolves of Klamath Falls.   The Pilot girls picked up their second win of the young season by topping the Dunsmuir (California) High School girls by a 48-30 score.   Well done Pilots!

The girls got their first week win over the Glendale Pirates by a 34-15 margin. Both teams also got a pair of losses but will be out to improve their season records at a Redding, California tournament on Dec. 11 and 12.

In the past week (Oct. 12-17) the soccer squad earned a split with a win over Illinois Valley and a home loss to the number-four ranked team in the state, St. Mary’s of Medford.

Canyonville Christian Academy Jumpers Capture State Medal https://www.canyonville.net/canyonville-christian-academy-jumpers-capture-state-medal/ https://www.canyonville.net/canyonville-christian-academy-jumpers-capture-state-medal/#respond Mon, 25 May 2015 17:23:30 +0000 http://www.ccaalumni.net/?p=2299 Two Pilot senior jumpers brought home medals from the 2015 OSAA Oregon State Championship Track Meet May 21 and 22.  For the boys, Ivan Sandrali jumped 39-6 3/4 for sixth, while Sasha Eck posted a girls mark of 32-0 for 7th in the Class 2A competition. The best CCA efforts on the track were Gabriel Martin in tthe 100m and 200m dashes (11.76 and 23.72, fully auto timed), but he fell just short of making the finals in his events. Congratulations!

Eight schools were entered in the competition.   The boys collected wins in four of the events (100m – Garbriel Martin, 3000m – Denis Gavrinyuk, long and triple jumps – both Samuel Kim), while the girls got a first place finish in the 400m relay and a fourth place in the  team standings.

In addition to dominating the boys’ running events, the Pilots also got wins in both the boys’ and girls’ long jump competition. On April 19 the CCA track teams traveled to the University of Oregon to see the national champion Oregon Duck in action.

Two other of Canyonville Christian Academy’s players received honorable mention honors for play during the just completed season:  Jermie Munyakazi for the boys’ team and Mahli Beltran for the girls.  All three honored players are seniors.
