High School Basketball Player Named to First-Team Squad

Canyonville Christian Academy’s Destin Musoni was named to the Mountain View Conference first-team all-league squad in boys’ basketball. The selection is by vote by the league coaches. Musoni was also named to the first-team on defense. Andrew Graves and Gabriel Martin were awarded honorable mention for the 2015-16 season by the coaches.

Basketball Team Scores 8th Win

Canyonville Christian Academy boys’ basketball team downed Crow High School January 26 by a decisive 70-36 margin. Leading the Pilots in this away game were Destin Musoni and Brian Ng with a combined 33 points. In the girls’ basketball game, the Pilots led at halftime but ultimately fell by a 38-29 to the Crow Coungars. Grace Tuan and Esther Masasu poured in a total of 21 of the CCA points.

Pilots Play Two Teams

With 2 basketballs games this past weekend, Canyonville Christian Academy Pilots experienced loss and wins. January 22, 2016 Pilots came up short versus Lost River Simon Mao and Andrew Graves poured through a combined 21 points but it was not enough to overcome a strong Lost River team on January 22. The final score of the home game was 50-37. CCA is now 7-7 on the season. January 23, 2016 Pilots Dominate Crow Cougars Five CCA Pilots scored in double figures as the boys team blew by Crow High School with an 82-48 score. The January 23 home game say the Pilots jump off to a 26-10 first quarter advantage. Meanwhile, the CCA girls made a good showing against Crow in a 35-38 loss.

Pilots Capture League Victory!

The Canyonville Christian Academy boys basketball team edged Riddle High School in a closely contested 69-64 game. This was the second consecutive conference win for the team and improved their season record to 7-6. In their January 19th game at Riddle, the CCA’s girls were unable to hold a halftime lead and fell to a 34-30 score.

Boys Win Big Over Monroe!

Canyonville Christian Academy’s boys basketball team logged a strong 61-33 win over the Monroe Dragons Jan. 15. Brian Ng and Destin Musoni combined for 31 points is this conference game. The Pilot girls were led by Esther Sandrali’s 13 points in a losing effort at Monroe.

BOYS PICK UP ANOTHER WIN

Canyonville Christian Academy‘s boys’ basketball team recorded their fourth win of the young season by topping the South Umpqua(4A) JVs by a 70-51 score. The Pilots used a 29 point second quarter to pull ahead of the Lancers in the December 15th home game. Destin Masoni and Brian Ng Led Canyonville Christian Academy team with a total of 40 points. In the girls competition, CCA fell short by a 25-48 score.

BOYS, GIRLS NOTCH BASKETBALL WINS

Canyonville Christian Academy‘s boys’ basketball team picked up an overtime win in the third place of the Redding Christian Holiday Tournament. The final score of the December 12th game was 63-61 over the Triad Timberwolves of Klamath Falls. The Pilot girls picked up their second win of the young season by topping the Dunsmuir (California) High School girls by a 48-30 score. Well done Pilots!

Boys, Girls Capture Basketball Wins

In week one of the new basketball season, the Canyonville Christian Academy boys team upended El Sobrante Christian of California by a 73-34 score. The boys were led by Gabriel Martin with 18 points and the team hit nine three-point shots. The girls got their first week win over the Glendale Pirates by a 34-15 margin. Both teams also got a pair of losses but will be out to improve their season records at a Redding, California tournament on Dec. 11 and 12.

PILOTS EARN ALL-STAR HONORS

Ivan Sandrali was selected by the basketball coaches of the Mountain View 2A Conference to the first team all-star squad for 2014-15. He was also named to the all-league defensive team. Two other of Canyonville Christian Academy’s players received honorable mention honors for play during the just completed season: Jermie Munyakazi for the boys’ team and Mahli Beltran for the girls. All three honored players are seniors.

PILOTS DUO SCORES 37 IN SEASON FINALE

Two senior boys, Ivan Sandrali and Jeremie Munyakazi, totaled 37 points in the final basketball game of the 2014-15 campaign but the team fell short (56-64) of a win. Playoff bound Lost River had to overcome a half-time deficit to catch the Canyonville Christian Academy boys and also held a 25-6 advantage at the free throw line.
