Canyonville Christian Academy’s goal is to provide athletic opportunity for every student who has the desire to compete, and to help those individuals achieve their potential.

Trophy Case

Canyonville Academy field teams in cross country, soccer, volleyball, basketball, tennis, and track. It is a member of the 280-school Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA). In past seasons, individuals and teams have won numerous league, district, and state honors.

In athletics since 1970:

  • 75 state individual and relay champions
  • six state team championships
  • 64 district and league team championships
  • Canyonville Academy’s alumna Rose Gilbert set a national high school record for the pentathlon at the 1972 US Olympic trials.  For her accomplishments, Miss Gilbert was featured in Sports Illustrated magazine.

Fall Sports

Canyonville Academy has such an international group of students that soccer is a MUST here.

Canyonville Academy is a part of the 3A/2A/1A – Special District 3, which has 10 teams total.  Follow our schedule on MaxPreps.

Canyonville Academy offers Volleyball during the fall season.  Our volleyball program emphasized teamwork and strives to increase each player’s technical and tactical skill.

Winter Sports

Since 1983, Canyonville Academy’s basketball teams have advanced seven times to the state tournament playoffs (five boys, two girls) and captured six of the district championships. In 2014, the varsity boys’ team qualified for the 2 A State Tournament.

Canyonville Academy girls basketball team have a long history here at the academy.  The girls come from all over the world, and gain teamwork skills, technical skills and strategies.  These girls will have an advantage over other college students because they learn teamwork early on.

Canyonville Academy Pilot Cheerleaders learn balance, coordination, teamwork and the importance of good grades.  These girls learn early on the value and reward of teamwork, hard work and fun!

Spring Sports

Since 1970, Canyonville Academy’s athletes have won 70 individual and relay titles in state competition for Track & Field, including AAU and Oregon 1A/B wins before OSAA sponsorship.

Since the current OSAA track classification standards were adopted in 1992, the Pilots have won ten state meet trophies.


Canyonville Academy track & field teams have won 34 league championships (19 girls, 15 boys).

Six Pilots have been named “Oregon Athlete of the Year” by Who’s Who in Oregon Track, and a number of Canyonville athletes have gone on to compete at the national level in college track and the U.S. Olympic Trials.


Canyonville Academy athletes hold or have held 22 Oregon state meet records and all-time state bests:

Girls: 100y, 100m (state meet record), 200m, 220y, 400m, 440y, 110y Hurdles, Long Jump, 880y Relay, 880y Medley Relay, 1600m Relay (state meet record), Mile Relay, and Pentathlon.

Boys: 800m, 880y, Mile, Two-Mile, Shot Put, Mile Relay, Two-Mile Relay, Four-Mile Relay, and Distance Medley Relay.

Canyonville Academy has had tennis teams who have played from 1A to 4A teams anywhere from Sisters, Oregon to Klamath Falls, Oregon, over to North Bend, Oregon and up to Philmath which is a 4A team.  They have played from private schools to public schools.
