Canyonville Christian Academy’s seminar class traveled south to Los Angeles to view art collections at the Getty Museum and the Norton Simon museum.

Students enjoyed viewing a large number of works such as Rembrandt, Monet, Van Gogh and Picasso.  Juniors and seniors were able to get an in-depth look at the compositions from these famous artists.   The study of famous painters from around the world is part of seminar class.

Enhancing Knowledge

At the art museums, the students were also able to view historical people and events.  The trip to the museums provided an opportunity to expand on the students cultural education and knowledge learned in seminar class.

Students also enjoyed stopping at the Yosemite National Park, located in the Californian Sierra Nevada mountains, viewing one of the USA’s top natural wonder.

Yosemite is very well known for it’s giant, ancient sequoias and Tunnel View which provides a spectacular view of the Yosemite Valley, and El Capitan and Bridalveil Fall which rise from Yosemite Valley.  Half Dome can be seen in the background.

The 4-day seminar field trip proved very educational and refreshing.

Seminar class is taught by Roger Shaffer, son of Robert Shaffer and grandson of A.M. Shaffer, founder of CCA.
