Christian boarding school, Canyonville Christian Academy, located in southern Oregon, is known as one of the Best Christian Boarding Schools

In 2006, Fernando Esparza helped launch Canyonville Academy’s first soccer team, which ended up 2nd place in the district. Fernando played for the Official League Soccer of Mexico, and helped coach at the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León in Monterey, Mexico.

The following years, the Pilots have been coached by Josva Halseide, Mike Stansberry, Eric Payne, and Carl Simpson. In 2013, Eric Payne, assisted by Lance Nutter coached the Pilots who were able to make it all the way to the State of Oregon quarter finals.

In 2017, for the first time in the school’s 93 year history, Canyonville Academy offers girls’ soccer through a collaboration with local South Umpqua High School.
