Basketball at Canyonville Christian Academy is one of our most exciting sports! Most years, around 25 boys and 15 girls participate on the boys’ and girls’ varsity and junior varsity teams. The home games are well-attended by the student body, and this provides a good chance to build school pride and community!
CCA is part of the Mountain View Conference of the OSAA. The past few years, we have played an independent schedule to maximize competitiveness and to provide a great experience for the student athletes. Most years, the season is culminated with a trip to either California or another location to play a game and visit a new place! Homecoming and senior night are two other highlights of the season.
Noel Schaak is in his 9th year coaching boys’ varsity basketball at Canyonville Christian Academy and his 15th overall.
Previously, he has coached at Bethesda Christian high school in Indiana and at Multnomah University in Portland. Noel has a passion for working with high school students and teaching them the discipline and fundamentals that the game of basketball requires.
Mike Stansberry has played basketball for over twenty years. He played in college as a point guard and soon after found himself with his first coaching job. Mike has since coached boys and girls from 7th grade through High School varsity. He loves to coach because he remembers the tremendous impact that his High school coach had on him. He hopes to build relationships that will last a lifetime. He also loves to teach them things like knowing your role, teamwork, how to support leadership, never giving up, and so much more.
